 Keep Atlanta Beautiful recognizes that removing trash is only the first step in achieving a sustainably clean environment. We hope that when communities realize how a cleaner environment improves their quality of life, residents and businesses will assume responsibility for their neighborhood’s appearance and take pride in living and working there. Education is the lynch pin in the behavior change necessary to sustain cleanliness. Therefore, during the week following this cleanup, KAtlB volunteers hand-delivered litter bags containing pamphlets about litter control and recycling to businesses, the homeowners’ association, and the neighborhood YMCA. KAtlB also wrote letters to business in the area asking them to continue what these 14 volunteers initiated.
