2007 Bring One For The Chipper Program

Keep Atlanta Beautiful, Keep Georgia Beautiful, The Home Depot, and The Davey Tree Expert Company participated in the 17th annual “Bring One for the Chipper” and recycled 834 Christmas trees on January 6, 2007.  Atlanta residents brought their trees to the Home Depot parking lots on Ponce de Leon Avenue and Sidney Marcus Boulevard to be chipped into landscaping and water-saving mulch by the Davey Tree Expert Company. Keep Atlanta Beautiful acknowledges the media of V103, 1380, WAOK, 97.5 FM, and 640 AM for publicizing this event.

This effort was accomplished by 55 volunteers donating 304 volunteer hours pulling the trees off car roofs and out of vans from 1251 environmentally conscientious Atlanta citizens.  Ten loads of mulch were delivered to Piedmont Park, and 100 loads were delivered to Midtown Green.

Since its inception, the program has recycled more than 4 million Christmas trees.  The mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects, and residential yards. Just as important, our already over-burdened landfills were not further burdened with 4 million trees.

Request Mulch...

During this 2007 Christmas tree recycling season, Davey Tree mulched a total of 8,600 trees that were brought to both city sites. That's a lot of landfill space saved by this endeavor!
