ON YOUR MARK! GET SET! RECYCLE!

Keep Atlanta supports of Mayor Franklin’s vision “to create and foster a community dedicated to environmental sustainability through best in class leadership by the City."  Part of our mission has always been to beautify the city by being tough on litter, but we recently realized we had a huge opportunity and duty to expand our mission to include education and awareness about waste minimization and recycling.

In Georgia, over $250 million of commonly recycled materials such as cardboard, aluminum, and plastics are being disposed of in Georgia’s landfills each year.  More than $7 million of these materials come from residents within the City of Atlanta alone.

Our  approach to unites citizens, businesses and government to find solutions that advance our core issues of preventing litter, reducing waste, and beautifying communities.   Keep Atlanta Beautiful, in partnership with other nonprofits and federal, state, and local decision making organizations is in a unique position to influence and elicit positive change in waste reduction and recycling in Atlanta.

Since 2007, with the help of more than 1,700 volunteers, Keep Atlanta Beautiful has successfully beautified 57 sites around the city, recycled more than 200,000 pounds of electronic waste and collected 31,000 tires for recycling—and educated more than 14,000 residents. Cleanup efforts in 2007 and 2008 resulted in more than 2000 pounds of recyclables.

Join us in our vision of creating a cleaner and greener Atlanta by signing up your company or organization to become a corporate sponsor or team for the 3rd annual Race 2 Recycle. This event keeps growing as awareness spreads. Last year more than 300 runners participated from companies like IKEA, Turner Broadcasting, Inc., Zoo Atlanta and more! Don't miss out on the fun!
