Our Mission

To empower communities of Atlanta to Sustain Cleaner and Greener Environments

Our Function

Keep Atlanta Beautiful is comprised of an all-volunteer board of directors representing all areas of the city and an advisory board of interested citizens. An affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Georgia Beautiful, this non-profit organization works in partnership with Atlanta City government’s Department of Public Works and Code Enforcement, state and federal litter enforcement and green space maintenance agencies, private industry, and local community groups.

Together we assess needs for change, implement programs for improvement, and work toward the goal of a behavior change that will sustain a cleaner and greener Atlanta.

Our Background

Keep Atlanta Beautiful, formerly Atlanta Clean City Commission, was created in 1976 under Mayor Maynard Jackson's administration to tackle the issues of litter prevention and environmental awareness on a citywide basis.

Keep Atlanta Beautiful is governed by a 27 member Board representing business and professional groups, trade unions, educational groups, civic clubs, the Chamber of Commerce, and the general public. The Board of Directors sets policy, recommends specific programs for committee, and actively participates in the implementation of various programs and projects to achieve the mission of Keep Atlanta Beautiful.
